Energyhelpline and Uswitch Reps- Eon Final Bills

This is all old hat and was discussed here as long as 3 years ago when eon altered their ts + cs regarding discounts being taken away on final bills! So why the fuss now?

I only became aware of the issue while reading a current thread.Presumably nothing was done previously to alter the visibility of the issue. There are new customers reading the forums so it is useful for them even though you obviously knew about it.
It is excellent that one Comparison Site has now already taken the comments on board, having been approached directly about it. I have made other direct approaches to relevant parties.
That is a much better outcome for customers than it sitting hidden in an old MSE archive.
The introduction of the Confidence Code also gives a much stronger framework for improving things like this for customers and so we may see further developments.:)0 -

I have much the same response as the rep from energyhelpline! Our comparisons (and the Confidence Code regulations) are based on staying with a tariff for a year. I can see why not including things like this in the estimated bill can be frustrating for some people though.
We do publish the full terms and conditions for all tariffs on our site though, and customers can see these before they switch.

Thank you to both the Reps and their companies for picking this issue up. Presumably, like EH you will also be flagging this up more prominently in your key features.
I used your website this morning for a comparison and found it excellent in terms of layout and ease of use.
Regarding the issue of Clause 7.1.1 and what is used in the calculations or not, I fully accept it is complicated in this case. The situation is quite unique.
Accordingly, I felt it appropriate to raise it directly with the Consumer Focus Code Manager for guidance. As yet I haven't received a response although I only sent it today.0 -
...Premier,
Please can you give an example of the discount being incorrect as I have just checked by running several comparisons through the calculator and the discount is showing at £65 for QDD, it may be a regional thing though so if it is still showing incorrect for any comparisons you run please let us know and we will look into it.
Whoops:o:o:o
Sincere apologies. I had hoped you didn't see that post - it was only there a couple of minutes before I deleted it.
The error (lack of update to the reduced discounts) had existed up until the beginning of Feb at least, but as soon as I posted I checked again and the discounts have now been corrected, hence I removed the post.
Sorry to have troubled you."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
From energyhelpline for the Eon SaveOnlin 5 tariff just now:Please note that if you switch away from an E.ON tariff then discounts are not paid on the final bill.
Only problem being this is also stated on their fixed tariffs so I suspect Eon won't be best chuffed. To be honest, the situation is totally down to their actions really.0 -
I had written directly to Uswitch about this issue before the Reps responded.
Encouragingly, I today received the following response:
Thank you for contacting uSwitch.com with your enquiry.
Your feedback is much appreciated, as discounts not being applied to the final bill should certainly be taken into account whilst looking at switching. I have passed your feedback onto my management, who will look at adding this feature clearly to the website.0 -
I have just been to energyhelpline site and put in the details of 19500 kWh for gas and 4200 kWh for electricity.
I am on e.on fixonline8
According to energyhelpline site I am paying £1136 and would save £54 by changing to SG.
Uswitch gives a present spend of £954.31 and if I changed to SG I would pay £127.34 more.
So who is correct?

I think they both are, they just have differing ways of presenting the results.
Because your tariff ends in July energyhelpline does the comparison based on you being on that tariff until july then the rest of the next 12 months on the standard tariff (hence the higher spend) if you click on the link in the red writing at the top of the page you can do the comparison based on the full 12 months based on your current tariff, if you do that you should find it comes out pretty much the same as UswitchMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0
