A&L refused Premier Direct Account application!

Hi,
my partner has tried to apply for A&L Premier Direct account to take advantage of the 6% interest but he has been refused- which was annoying as we both wanted to apply in order to get the £50 referral. I havent applied yet, but I was just wondering if anyone else has been refused and on what basis- my partner earns a very good wage and apart from a morgage has no other debt- just wondering what strange scoring they may have...

thanks!

I've read of people being refused who are only saying they are going to pay in exactly £500 per month, as opposed to any higher value
The obvious credit stuff, on electroral roll? existing current account had for a while? not moved house recently? no negatives against credit history recently? if your partner has no entries on his credit file at all that may not help?
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
  • No, I do suspect its because he earns a decent wage and has no debt! On the other hand I have just found out that my application has been accepted though I earn alot less and have debt- perhaps they think I'm more likely to be a cash cow although I am a dedicated rate tart and never pay interest on my credit cards! very strange....

I got accepted for mine.. twice infact lol. Not sure whetehr I hit "apply" twice or there some snafu at their end. I got one email stating that 'we are dealing with your application' and then got two acceptance letters a few days later with welcome packs and two different account and savings #'s..

Phoned them up saying about the mistake and they asked which one I'd like to keep.. Chose the one with the easiest to remember number :) They said the other had been cancelled but yesterday I received its cheque book...

For my application i put down that i'd pay in 1k per month. That was good enough to get me two accounts it seems ;)
