Have you thought of having a dress made? I've just been looking on www.styleshake.com, and there are some lovely fabrics. You could try it just to see what styles you like? I just "made" a silk mint dress, and it came out at £89 but you could wear it over and over.
And Next have the most lovely maxi dress in greens- 70's print for £68, could be gothed up if required!"If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.":DMiss Mona, The Best Little *****house in Texas0 -
Planet have this dress in your size, great price reduction too, but whether it's to your taste is another question! Since you're tall and slim, you could possibly wear it belted and it would look smart accessorised with black, which presumably you would have already.

Such a shame for a dress-buying experience to have to be so limited by colour . Couldn't you just wear a shamrock brooch instead and buy whatever you wanted!0 -
Have a look through Littlewoods, lots of green ones and designer ones and they have a massive sale on, so you might get one cheaper and not have to use it for work.
Plus you can order loads try them on at home and then send them back all for free :j
Thats what i do when i have an occasion, i bought my best ever dress from littlewoods, a Ted Baker paisley one and it was a steal and just lovely to wear.0 -
Thanks for all the ideas - having procrastinated til the very last minute I've suddenly realised it is tomorrow and I haven't been shopping.
A frantic rummage in the wardrobe and I have the choice of the following - a plain black tailored dress or a plain stone tailored dress ( essentially the same dress )
I can team the black dress with a light green silk dupion jacket I bought ages ago in a sale and had forgotten all about. It doesn't work with the stone dress for some reason. I also have a dark green jacket but it is a bit heavy and tweedy for spring.
For a less formal look I have some pretty green short cardigans that work with both dresses - just a case of choosing which shade of green
So jacket or cardie? Official guidance is "smart casual". I was thinking the jacket would be too formal?
I hate this sort of thing!0 -
how could you forget to go shopping?
What did you decide in the end?Signature removed for peace of mind0
