I've been invited to a corporate "do" at Cheltenham races on 17th March which has a St Patricks Day theme.
Help what do I wear? I'm a size 10, 5ft 10 and mid forties with red and blonde hair and grey eyes. . Soft muted greens suit me well, harsh bright ones definitely don't. I don't really want to wear a business suit.
Any suggestions would be welcome. I only have a couple of opportunities to shop, one of which is tomorrow.

How much are you wishing to spend? Anything specific needs bearing in mind, eg you want your arms covered, nothing above knee length etc.

Just had a quick look on debenhams and john lewis and you can search by colour. Maybe worth a look, saves you scrolling through hundreds of items.

Budget - what it takes!
I do tend to feel the cold so I will need a wrap/jacket. Otherwise open to suggestions. I don't mind a couple of inches above the knee but I'm too old for the micro minis!0 -
I went to the races a few years ago, it was a corporate do also.
I wore a nice not quite lime green dress ( not bright green, bit more muted) made of linen type material. It had spaghetti type straps and the neckline bit was square. It came to just on the knee. I wore a navy blazer with it, and a floaty scarf, with blues, greys and greens in it. Can't give you a link to the dress cos I bought it whilst on holiday in france, (0000h get me!!)
I felt the combination was good though and just about right for the day. The Blazer kept me warm, as the weather was really miserable.0 -
Do you know what enclosure you are in? The most expensive one has a dress code I think, you can probably find more information on the Cheltenham racecourse website -I *think* you need to cover bare arms and have nothing too low cut although this may apply only to Ladies Day the day before you are going. Hope you have a fab time, the Cheltenham Festival is brilliant fun and there's some top class racing there. hth!I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0

I love these sort of posts, please give us an idea of what styles you like you like for the dress and shoes.

lol OK - I am a closet goth so nothing frilly or too girly. Given the choice I'd be in jeans!
However I have a professional image to uphold here so it is going to have to be classic(ish!) but I don't want frumpy. Generally I go for plain dresses and add a twist with barbed wire jewellery or gothic dragons or something similarly unexpected. Shoes and handbag I can do - I'm not sure I want to sacrifice my cream suede Gina shoes though so they will be dark. I do have some nice dark green shoes already which are not too spiky or I can do orange shoes and bag.
I quite like this http://www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Bengaline-Tab-Front-Tailored-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1324739&cid=11464&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Camel but everything I've bought from Asos has been so cheap looking that I've not kept it so I'd like a "better" brand.
If I can recycle for work afterwards then all the better.0 -
