Irregular work and carer's...what to do?

Hi,

I'm currently caring for a relative, and get carer's allowance. I know you're allowed to earn £100 or less and keep the allowance, so I've been looking for part time work, not just to bring in extra income but to have a bit of a change and ease myself into the world again, after a very stressful time.
I've been offered work with an agency, but the trouble is, they can't guarantee regular hours. I've told them that I could only do a certain number of hours, as I'd still have caring responsibilities, so the work I do will never exceed the £100 limit, but some weeks I may not have work at all. My question is how would I work this with the carer's unit? Could I do it on a rolling, week to week basis, or will they have to stop payments until I show them proof of income?
Thanks in advance for an replies
