Me and my ex used to have a joint account and When she has applied for credit in her own name she has been refused because she is financially linked with me. Anyway i went into the bank to close the account with out any account details only id and any other info i could provide but they say that we havent got a joont account if so why does it come up on credit report and how will i close the account with no details?:money:

If the account is classed as closed, you will still be financially linked until you remove the link yourself from your Credit Reports.

It's important to ensure that the account shows as "Closed" on your Credit File otherwise the Credit Reference agency will simply not be able to remove your ex from your Credit Report.

If you have had any further joint credit this needs to be classed as Closed otherwise if they see Active again, they will just decline to remove the link.

Tell you all you need to know and allows you to fill out a report to get them removed from your Credit Report.

If it is true that either they/you have been declined because of the other person on the report, it may take time if not months or years for your credit prospects to improve if many missed payments, defaults etc have been listed. But if it's nice and clean just wait a few months before starting to apply for credit again and give it a go.
