Anyone know how much it is to join Experian?
I found out about 3 wks ago that a debt collection agency had wrongly searched my credit file and they agreed to send an email to the credit file agencies asking for it to be removed. I now need to make sure they have done this and thought I would join Experian at the same time.
Thanks.

I went to re-activate my creditexpert account on Experian the other day and turns out it is now 14.99 a month!?! it use to be around 7 pound a month. Says 6.99 of it is now insurance or something. I would like someone to clarify on this too as I might be missing something but 14.99 a month is extortionate!Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. They seem to have made it delibrately difficult to see how much it is going to cost if you sign up. Even their own FAQ http://experian.metafaq.com/help/CreditExpert_OOS/Application/cost doesn't tell you. There was another thread the other day that suggested it had now gone up to £14.95 for new customers, I understand it now includes a credit score as part of the deal - which they used to charge extra for. But most people say paying for the score is a waste of money anyway.
Personally I would say the membership is not worthwhile, I would just order the £2 statutory reports at intervals so you can keep an eye on it. And in principle I wouldn't sign up for a free trial with such vague information as the provide as to what you are signing up for.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Yes I agree with you Tixy. I am just going to pay £2 from time to time. Guess what - you don't even have to wait for the report to come through the post. You can access it online instead!0

Hi guys, had signed up with equifax first then experian and now need to cancel both. Didn't really understand equifax's but experian's made much more sense.
Just before I cancel the experian one, I'd been thinking I quite like having access to this info now, so was seriously considering forking out the 14 odd quid each mth... BUT if I can access this for the £2... how do I go about that?
Sorry if that's all jumbled - I have Saturday morning head!

Hmm - okay fermi, suppose that is quite clear on that page - but I really couldn't find that page quickly yesterday - if you go just to http://www.creditexpert.co.uk/ it doesn't show the price (which they easily could). And the next place it seems sensible to look would be the FAQs, which sure enough it is a listed question but no useful answer is actually given.
I guess the price has increased 4p since MSE did the last update to the credit rating article.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Cornish Duchess - the statutory reports are £2, which are a snapshot for the date you order them. Even if I wanted to view mine monthly I think I'd rather just order it each month for £2 a time.

Try the "learn more" link on the front page?
I agree though, it's very bad to make you hunt for it.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Cheers - I looked after you put the link up and realised it was the 'learn more' link that I must have missed yesterday. Its just that I'm sure it used to be more prominent when the price was £6.99 a month. Possibly not a co-incidence that its no longer quite so easy to see.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

How can experian charge myself £7 and my wife £14.99 a month for the same service.
Apparently the new charge is an extra £6.50 for insurance up to £75,000.
My wife neither asks or wants or needs this insurance so why should she pay the extra £6.50.
This reminds me of the adverts on tv where you can claim back the insurance if you didn't ask, want or need the insurance.
Can anybody please help me with this as i have a feeling that it isn't legal.
My wife cannot access her credit file with experian until she agrees to pay £14.99 upfront and then £14.99 pm.
I am also fumming that i don't want to give experian another penny. However if i cancel i will then be forced to pay the 'new' £14.99 if i need to check my credit report / score in the future.
Please help
