Barclays amounts vanishing

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone on here could help me.
I have a barclays current account and check my online statment at least once a week.
I noticed 2 weeks ago that my available balance was showing as £2.95 different to my 'last nights balance', this stayed like this for a few days so I rang them up. They told me to wait 10 days and ring if it doesnt come back. This is a bit pointless as the amount has always came back in the past. This has happened twice in the past and has happened again today.
They are only really small amounts so it doesn't bother me much I just want an explanation as to what could be going on!
Has anyone else ever noticed anything like this with their account?
Thanks
Dan

They may well be earmarked sums ie at the Pay at Pump petrol machines where they debit £1 to check that the card works. There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0

above answer definitely spot on. When you use a card sometimes the petrol station chuck a dummy £1 or so transaction through for pay at pump to ensure card not lost/stolen.
10 days is the period of time authorisations can stay on there before they then drop off if the money is not taken0
