converting vhs to dvd?

i have a few videos that i would very much like to convert to dvd, but it's quite expensive to do so professionally. is there any way that i can do this at home without it costing a great deal? i have a g5 powermac with a good dvd burner. what else would i need in terms of software/hardware?

any help would be very much appreciated.

easiest wat is top get a stand alone set top type dvd recorder, you can pick one up for around £50 or so.

I agree with ianian99 I bought a DVD recorder and copied all my VHS videos to dvd, It is a long process as it is done in real time,

DVD recorder is the easiest way but you could also do it with a tv card for your pc. Doesnt have to have a tuner so long as your vhs player has a scart/s-video or composite connections.

I copy some bits from sky this way - you can either save to the harddrive then burn things to disk or it can even burn to disk as it records like a set top dvd recorder would.

(obvioulsy if you dont have a dvd burner in your pc then you might as well get the set top dvd recorder as the savings w9ould be minimal).

i bought a sharp combi dvd/vhs recorder.. I can record to dvd from vhs or to vhs from dvd
