Airsure is not fully tracked according to RM:

Are all Airsure® items electronically tracked until they are delivered?
We track all Airsure® items until they leave the UK. The item is then handed over to the destination country's postal service as a priority item. In most circumstances you will also be able to get electronic confirmation of delivery via Track & Trace.

Assuming this item is over the £41 compensation limit it would probably be cheaper to use a courier anyway as airsure is expensive as you ened the additional airsure charge plus the additional insurance charge as well on top of the airmail price.

I used Airsure to send an item overseas before Christmas. It's still showing on the RM site as "on its way", even though I know it was received! Makes me wonder what the point was in paying the extra!
  • The point of paying extra with Airsure, is that it is an expedited airmail service, so should in theory get there quicker. Also, there are enhancements for additional insurance.

At the end of the day RM do say that it is not guaranteed to track. How can they enforce something outside of the UK?

In my experience some countries ALWAYS track, but they are more Middle Eastern.

Airsure was roughly double the cost of ordinary airmail. They said it was expedited but it's difficult to know if it was in practice. It was posted to Geneva in the middle of November but tooks a couple of weeks to get there. Maybe it is quicker on average but in this particular case I don't think it was worth it.
  • It really is only worth it if you want it expedited (although pre Xmas nearly everything slowed to a halt) or if you want enhanced compensation. The price used to be airmail plus an enhancement of £5ish. But since 31 Jan, the prices have all changed and EU are now vatable too. So I don't think it is as easy to work out unless you use the Royal Mail pricefinder.
  • Thanks everyone, as it wasnt fully trackable I did a little hunting and found a courier who will deliver for less than Royal Mail and is fully trackable!
  • I use transglobal express for out of UK couriers. They are not necessarily the cheapest but for me completely reliable.
