probally a stupid question
ok please forgive me if this question sounds stupid, but i was going to replace my bottom crank pully on my xsara picasso hdi this weekend, i have changed the pullys before on some other cars with no problem, the problem i have is that after speaking to someone they have told me that i need a special tool to remove it, i did look the other day and it just looked like it had the one big bolt holding it in place. could anyone advise me any different or is this true, also does the bolt turn clock-wise or anti-clock-wise. like i said as far as i was concerned it was just straight forward but now he has out doubt in my mind.

I suspect the "special" tool is the crankshaft locking pin, which is required to stop things moving while you have it in bits.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

There is a tool for pulling the pulley off but I have never had to use it normally just undo the bolt and give the old pulley a tap.

Ah. Preventative maintenance then. Brother has recently bought a Pug 307 HDi so I'll give him a heads up.0 -
I've changed a couple of HDi crank pulleys and they both just pulled off.0
