Accounts without an overdraft?

Hi everyone,

Just after a bit of advice. I have a basic bank account that has no overdraft facility, which is linked to my Paypal account. A few months ago I bought an item from e-bay whcih meant my balance went negative which I failed to notice and got hit with two bank charges.

As this account does not have an overdraft facility am I still entitled to go through the re-claim procees or does it only apply to accounts that have an authorised overdaft?

Thanks for any help you can give...:T

First ring your bank up and see if they will refund. Usually if it is your first offence they may just tell you off and refund you both those charges.

  • if they don't agree then you can reclaim them back regardless if you have an arranged overdraft or not

Will write a letter tonight and see what their reply is...:)

Hi, IMHO it is often better to ring someone first if you have not done so already. It is much quicker as they can access your account and remove the charges there and then.
