What price loyalty?

My Scottish Power contract is due for renewal. I checked with several online comparison sites and all came up with the same Scottish Power tarif as the best one. When I phoned them, I was offered a tarif 25% higher! I gave the operator the name of the tarif I'd seen, and she agreed I could have it as I'd found it, but it was really for new customers. £30 per month is a big price for loyalty.
Has anyone else had this experience?

It wasn't the Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 12 tariff was it?

If so, yes lots have found similar (although a couple have now claimed SP won't let them have it/tariff no longer available although it's still on their website) . There's a bug with their online applications that prevents current customers applying for some reason.

I was told I couldn't do it online, but could do it on the phone, which I intend to do.
