Sony Ericsson for sale by first timer-Please help

My first ever venture into the complicated world of Ebay as a seller.
(I once actually gave away 2 vouchers for Three talk times worth £15 each, because I was too hesitant about the whole process of placing it on auction,so you can imagine how hesitant I am)

I only have 2 positive feedback scores-Big problem possibly as the only thing I have done is purchase 4 items over Ebay and have a negative feedback in retaliation. Will this be a big issue and is there anything else I can do to make it more genuine-Like paying and collecting in person if the buyer wishes to do so.

Looking at other current auctions for the P910i, it seems to be around the £275 mark. Can i opt out of the auction say in the last 24 hours if the bid amounts are not high enough-Sorry if this seems a stupid question.I dont plan to put any reserve-is that a sensible option because of my low feedback score because the bids would be lower.

Lastly is there any shop that would buy this phone back, because Im quite hesitant about the hassles on Ebay.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

If you have a low feedback score and it is less than about 99.5% positive you will not get any serious money for your phone. Any sensible buyer will look at your previous history of selling and base their bidding price on whether the auction seems likely to be real or not. A newbie seller with a neg will put people off.

It is against the ebay terms and conditions to pull an auction just because you don't reach a certain price however, despite it being against ebay t & cs it is still possible to do so. What you need to remember though is that most people will be bidding in the last few minutes by which time it will be too late for you to cancel all the bids and pull the auction.

If you are worried about it going too cheaply then put a reserve or just start the auction at the lowest price you will accept. Don;t risk a low start as you might get caught out.

There are rumours of a 5p listing day on this coming Thursday, if that is true then maybe the keep the phone until then. Put it up at a reasonable start price and see what happens.

I recently sold a phone, I made the starting price the minimum I would accept and got my first bid with 20 hours to go. In th elast half an hour the phone had 11 more bids!

Make sure you have reasonable payment methods, paypal , cash on collection (if you want to do that).

Finally, watch the scammers..phones are one of the hardest thing to sell safely. Make sure you set your options to not accept bids from buyers with an overall negative feedback. Only sell in the UK. Don't fall for any Western Union scammers, stick to your own auction terms and don;t get caught out.

    Good luck

    For selling on ebay,

start from a sunday to a sunday more people are on their pc's on a sunday than any other time of the week!

if you sell in the 3rd or 4 th week of the month people wait until the end of month to pay and you seem to get more bids.

Put some humuor in your sale it plays on peoples emotions and it helps to generate sales

On ebay the golden rule is - be prepared to let your item go if it does'nt make much money, or see below about the illegal bit!
