Referencing thorugh Homelet

Hi all,

I'm moving out of the property I had trouble with a frequently visiting (unauthorised) landlord and I have found a house, which fits the bill. It was one I had looked at previously, the rent was a tad higher than I wanted to pay back then, it's since been reduced and I put an application in with the agent on Monday.

they use Homelet as a referencing company, my last agent also used them and I passed fine. This agent wants a guarantor because I am under 30 (not by much, only a few months), luckily my father has done the guarantor application and he submitted it at the same time as me on Monday.

Last time I was referenced by Homelet, they sent me an e-mail very soon after I gave in my paperwork just confirming things. I haven't had this this time.

My employer last time had a reference request the next day before and I still work for the same firm and they have yet to receive anything.

I've been into the agent who say that they have imputted everything and it's gone to Homelet, Homelet say they can't give me an update ('It's Data Protection, see'- it's my data!!!).

Just wondering how long do this company take to turn around? Last time I am sure it was no more than 3 days?

Many thanks
X

It might depend which Homelet service the agent is using. However HL are usually pretty fast. If you really want to chase, ask the agent to ask HL where in the process they've go to. The agent is HL's customer and pays their bill (well, indirectly I expect you do!) so HL should respond.

Surprised a guarantor is needed "because I am under 30 ". Good grief. What is the age of majority these days? You can drink at 18, drive at 18, have sex at 16, vote at..........

And does your dad fully understand what he's commiting to???

As for previous landlord - Did you not consider just changing the lock? Worth doing anyway in the new place - previous 9 tenants all kept keys you know!

edit: just reviewed your previous post re last LL ( I take back my comment above!)
