EDF Bad to Worse
Just received my first electricity bill. It covers just over two months.
Basically there is only one thing correct.
They haven't used my opening meter readings.
All of the bill is on a completely wrong tariff. I signed up to OS7 and it is all billed on Economy 7 Electricity Tariff DD. The estimate they have calculated is around three times my normal consumption.
They have asked me to sign up to Direct Debit when I am already on it.
When I asked why it was all so wrong ,they couldn't offer me one explanation.:o
I have requested for the fourth time that EDF puts up a Rep to this forum to get a flavour of and to assist customers with their many and increasing problems.
I did get my Welcome Bonus though but it will probably disappear on the revised bill.
Inept would be kind.

Connected with other thread,if I want to leave them due to this ongoing gross incompetence, should I have to pay exit penalties?0

Im on the same tariff as you but would you not be cutting your nose off here if they are going to hold OS7 Prices until the end of the tariff ? The service is inept but price wise I don't think it can be beaten at the moment backfoot.

Hi backfoot - You don't say so, but I get the impression that either you have just switched to EDF or just moved into a residence which was already being supplied by EDF.
Make sure you do not have an ECO7 meter - It's possible that you do have and a previous occupier opted to go onto a Standard tariff, which the supplier achieved by leaving the ECO7 meter in place and added it's two readings together to produce a Standard Elec bill.
When these sort of arrangemants are made, they often fall apart with a change of account holder
The other thing is to check is that the meter number on your bill, matches the one on your meter0 -
Thanks guys for the support and advice.:T
However, I think you got the wrong end of the stick.
The background is, I switched to OS7,already on E7 but about to change now our circumstances have changed. I won't be leaving because for the time being the price is the lowest for me. I was quoting it as an example in relation to the issue about termination fees on another thread.
I am well versed in OS7, Billing of OS7.
In fact, I negotiated on behalf of all customer's that EDF would not ask for the £100 Welcome bonus back if you left before the contract end.
I also started a thread highlighting that in many cases they bill you on standard terms for a period even though you signed up to OS7.Again, I managed to get assurances that they would correct all such cases.
This thread is highlighting to the many EDF customers, yet something else to be wary of. In this case, a complete !!!! up on the tariff set up.
I am also campaigning via a contact high up in EDF for a rep from that company to come onto this Forum. So far without success.
It's been a painful ride.0 -
Sorry to hear you are still being put through the wringer by EDF ! If you are able to hang in there it would make sense as you have got this far its not certain if any other provider you will not have the same problems with .
You are exactly right about a EDF rep on the forum it would be extremely helpful and to be honest if they got there act together with regards customer service it could save them money in the long run as there customer service telephone lines must be jammed up with calls from customers just trying to clarify problems which are quite simple if they were explained correctly by EDF0 -
