Hi Meforbargains, this is the first time i've known HFO to use this tactic, so thanks for your info.

HFO are notorious for the underhand tactics IMO. Treat everything from them with suspicion. date and file everything they send you and log everything. Never speak to them on the phone, insist on everything in writing (refuse their security questions, they hate that).

HFO specialise in purchasing sub prime debts that are often unenforcable because of agreements or being stat barred.

Ignore all their illegal interest and charges. They can add what they want, doesn't mean they can enforce these charges. When Egg terminated your account then the interest stopped then, unless a clause in the contract allows it to, which it won't .

If HFO were confident of supplying an enforcable agreement then they wouldn't be trying to get you to admit in writing they you owe it.

I'd reply with some well thought out questions, but nowhere in the CCA 1974 (Amended) does it say the Creditor can reply with questions

Not seen that one myself either.

Perhaps someone on your CAG thread has? Will have to see.

fermi are you stalking me! Lol

Have posted the details up there for the HFO fan club to see. I usually see all the HFO threads and to date haven't seen this yet.

This goes down with their sending of credit files along with photo's from google of your house, and cards from first logistics and silverpoint delivery cards into their dirty tricks hall of fame.

If I come across any others I will duely post them up across the 2 forums.

As you have already found out, I spend most my time on CAG, but i like to keep an interest on MSE for HFO posts.

    Not at all.

I'm subscribed to the new thread RSS feed on various sites. Here, CAG, LB, and others. So I saw your thread there 'pop up' on that and recognised the name and letter.

  • I was only joking, I recognised your name from a search I did some time ago on CAG, about student loans I think.

Agreed. This is a particularly underhand and nasty tactic.

I hope that HFO are at the front of the queue for the next "slap" from the OFT. (Little good it does).

  • I have it on good authority that a particular branch is investigating HFO and all the complaints against them, so hopefully they will get their CCA licenced revoked, god knows there's enough evidence against them.

If the OP could forward their complaint about this to Merton Trading Standards, they will be interested to hear from them I am sure
  • Ok, generall consensus on the other forum is that none of us have seen this response before, but all agree it should be reported.

Quite a few people are waiting for their CCA request back from HFO, so we shall wait and see

Certainly deserves some perusal by the OFT, TS etc.

Putting additional and unjustified conditions on a response to a statutory request is waaaaaaaaaaaay out of order.

In some way it reminds me of the Moorcroft standard bollux:

"In the meantime however we believe that it may be of assistance to all parties if we also take this opportunity to ensure that any potential areas of dispute are addressed prior to any possible court action or further investigation . Please could you give an indication of the information you will be providing, when giving evidence to the court or providing information to the relevant statutory authorities in relation to the alleged subject matter of the account."

but written by someone who is determined to plumb a whole other level in DCA idiocy.
