iTunes 10 download

I would like to download iTunes, specifically to download a certain podcast which is available through iTunes only.
My question is: I am very happy with Windows Media Player for my music, will the iTunes download mess up with all my settings and convert all my music files?
Your expert knowledge is appreciated as usual.

just keep WMP as your default player

Done. And how can I download old episodes of certain podcasts? iTunes only downloaded, when subscribed, the latest episode. And I cannot seem to be able to download thyem.

    It depends on the podcast.
some allow you to DL old episodes up to X timescale
some only keep the current episode
if there are other episodes then it will show on the podcast page on the itunes store
  • Most podcasts end up on the torrent networks, so you'll probably get back copies on there if they're no longer "officially" available.

On the itunes store webpage there are countless old episodes of the podcasts in question. But itunes program has only downloaded the latest, and I cannot seem to be able to manually download the older ones. With the BBC podcasts, I would right-click and "save link as". On the itunes store, I am not given that option.
Another anomaly, which has just come up, I did RSS feed some other podcasts, and usually, when I would go on the bookmark tab, and clicked on it, it would take me to the "save as" dialog box. Now that I have downloaded iTunes, it plays it directly with RealPlayer, which I have never used.
    Is iTunes related to RealPlayer?

just click on the "free" button beside the podcast
Itunes will download the podcast for you
you can see its progress in the top itunes info box

  • Not related, no, but it does have the same irritating belief that it should be in control of your computer.

So, if I should uninstall it, would it cause any harm?
