Hi, I am new to this place! Just wondered if any of you can advise me of the best place to obtain jewellery insurance if independant of home insurance. The home insurance renewal quote is ridiculous we have just received from Direct Line and cannot afford to insure some jewllery. Does anyone have any advice of which companies to approach about insurance and jewellery insurance. Many thanks.

Have you shopped around for home insurance?
The cheapest way is probably to include the jewelry on home insurance.
I would use a search engine but use false phone number and email.
You could also look at cashback deals on quidco and topcashback although cashback is not guaranteed so my advice is to only buy a policy you're happy with anyway in case there is an issue with the cashback.0 -
I moved my home insurance from Direct Line to Esure for this very reason when the total to insure my specified items alone cost over £300 which I thought was outrageous. £75 a year to insure a pair of diamond earrings - no way.
Anyway Esure were considerably cheaper however when my husband bought a piece of jewellery over the limit they quoted silly prices too (having paid out £150 for a valuation :eek:) so I moved the insurance to Bank of Scotland.
I don't need to specify items there and although you need proof of value if you have a claim they would accept a receipt so they don't have a specific requirement for a valuation.
I also managed to shave £150 off the home and contents so I would give it a try. Also if you have a Halifax or Bank of Scotland Ultimate Reward Current account you get £50 cashback (or at least I did) which was another bonus.NO FARMS = NO FOOD0 -
If you are a "high value" household then I recommend Hiscox very highly.
Their single item limit is £15K.
By "high value" we are talking about people with contents of around £75K+0
