Should i state in my auction?

that the dvds im selling are prob promo copies?
no idea where they've come from theyre just in the house
they dont have a barcode and say 'not to be sold seperately' apart from that they look just like any normal dvd?
i like being an ethical seller, i state any little imperfections in goods etc
dont know whether it will matter if i say that they might be promo copies and it says not to be sold seperatly or anything
if i say that on the listing will ebay pull the item?
would you care?

I would probably state that they are promo copies just to be on the safe side. Are the DVDs exactly the same as the retail versions - i.e. do they have the all the extras/commentaries etc?
  • I have bought things that were promotional items ie. free gift with purchase, free with magazine etc. It doesn't bother me as I got them at a good price and I wouldn't have wanted the actual purchase item that came with them anyway.

But yes, do state in your auction that the dvd is a promo copy. I've sold promo stuff on eBay with no problems so you should be fine :)

  • It may even be possible to turn it into a selling point if you can describe them as "rare"!

Because of my job I get lots of preview and promo copies and always state so in my listings.
Sometimes they do go for a bit more because of that status.
However I have had a listing pulled, probably by an aggrieved book company.

Even if it does happen, eBay have always refunded my listing fee on the few times they've pulled my listings.
Life should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.

As a regular DVD buyer on eBay, yes you should state they are a promo and if you use the stock photo feature also say if they are in a keep/Amaray case or cardboard slipcase.
  • I would definatly state it... there are a lot of people on ebay who will just leave neg feedback....

It would annoy me if i thought i was getting a nice boced one but i got a promo... not sure how many other people it would tho...

my dilema was purely because they do come in the exact plastic boxes as any dvd! theres no mention of them being promos they look exactly as if you got them from a shop they just dont have a barcode, and have written dont sell seperatly or whatever warning it was on them
i listed the items last night with a line saying they are likely to be promo copies

  • Be honest

I recently purchased a dvd advertised as new - it was much a copy when it came through and did not work. I contacted and am being given a refund
