ipod touch repair advice

lo all.
I have an ipod touch 2nd gen with a 'dodgy' headphone socket (one ear cuts in/out when you wiggle it).
I have found an 'only slightly dodgy' loking local repair place that claims to be able to do the repair for £30.
Question 1: What's the minimum I should be doing to make sure account details etc etc are removed before handing an ipod to a 3rd party?
Question 2: anything else spring to mind to double check/be concerned about? -I'm hoping replacing/resoldering an audio jack is pretty difficult to screw up to screw up too badly

Silly question - are you sure it is the socket and not the earphones? Of course if the socket wobbles then the question is moot. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Well it seems to affect the 3 pairs of headphones I've tried with it in exactly the same way, all of which work fine in my main PC0

Jas, a guy I work with does this as a sideline, I'll collar him at lunchtime and get back to you......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Jas, he suggested you have a look at this:-

for complete stripdown instructions, complete with pt. no's if you need a new jack (not me, obviously)

Cheers Gunjack.... from looking around I could well get the jack for £5 and have a go but the rest of the ipod is in very good condition and when you get to the minature / hand held device sized board level my solder skills probably only run to a 50% success rate.
for the extra £25 I'm happy to pay someone experienced-ish to do it and as this place is round the corner I can physically go and badger them if the repair isn't up to scratch ;p0
