Help with planning a long journey ... OS

Hi everyone,

Long time lurker on the OS boards!

Wondering if anyone can give me some tips/help on planning a 12 hour journey by bus tomorrow?

Looking for ways to save money - still have time to go out and but supplies, and really want to eliminate the need of buying anything once we're on the road

 hope the journey goes to plan, no traffic etc!

Bring a bigggg bottle of water (you can always refill it if you stop anywhere, i've drank water from toilet taps world wide and i'm still standing!),
cartons of juice if you like that or cans of pop,
    sandwiches,
something dense to munch like scones(sweet or savoury! could make a 1/2 batch up and squeeze raisins into some and cheese into others before baking),
piece of fruit or a carrot!
    And a library book!
Make sure the phones/mp3s are fully charged, download a few radio shows if you can.

    Hi,

If it was us doing that, I'd take lunch time food, sandwiches/cake etc. with further nibbles.

    Tea and Coffee

Pop, I'd go for coke or lucozade, it won't hurt this time, if you don't usually drink that.

    Something to read.
  • not going to see my chem in london per chance are you?:D

my daughter and her friends are also doing a 12 hr coach journey from glasgow tomorrow

they have packed water, making "sammiges", flung apples and crips in their bags, charged the ipods & cameras, and that is their "planning"

oh to be a teen again:rotfl:
packed minimal clothing, they are planning mega shopping trip saturday & sunday!
  • I'd also take some baby wipes, so you can clean your hands face and make you feel a bit fresher. Also maybe take some paracetamol or something in case of headache etc.

Puzzle books, magazines, books etc to keep your mind busy!
  • I always freeze a couple of Capri Suns overnight. They act as a cooler for most of the journey & then once defrosted are a lovely cold drink which makes a change from the warm water you'll probably be drinking by then.

not about supplies, but we have a most ridiculous family game on journeys of spotting yellow cars and minis - yellow minis are particularly special. The children of a friend from Brighton way shared this game and it is worryingly addictive - other friends' children now insist on playing it in their car journeys and I think it's spread quite dramatically!

:rotfl: Nope not my chem, but we are leaving from Glasgow at 0830 tomorrow!! Going to visit some family, and decided that we were NOT paying 200 pound + for a flight when we could travel for 40 each on the bus!

Thanks everyone :) just finished baking some scones, made some wraps and sandwiches, packed some muffins and biscuits and stocked up on magazines and books! Thanks again :D
