Private Pregnancy Ultrasound on Westfield Health

I've had early scans with all 3 pregnancies (all paid for by me). They can't be sure of seeing a heartbeat, even using the internal scanner, until the 7th week of pregnancy anyway. I've had a scan at 6 weeks where no heartbeat was detected but it was beating away strongly 5 days later.
The other thing to bear in mind is that even if you see the heartbeat at 7 weeks, the pregnancy is still just as vulnerable until the 12 week mark has passed. So the reassurance if offers is only for that moment only. Usually the scanner will make it clear to you after the scan that it isn't a guarantee that all will be well. There is really very little to see at that point, as all the brain and body development takes place later on. By week 12 it is much more worthwhile.
If money is tight, I'd agree with the others that you should just hold tight and wait for the NHS 12 week one. Good luck with the pregnancy.
I agree - I had an early scan at 8.5 weeks in my first pregnancy as was unsure of dates - the heartbeat was seen clearly - sadly by the time the 12 week scan came round there was no heartbeat as I had suffered a missed miscarriage.
OP - I know how you feel but I would just try not to worry and occupy your time and hopefully it will go quickly x0 -
Ah the wait is horrid. Most places when i was looking would only do scans from 8 weeks as otherwise have to be done ky jelly style.
I remember the wait i didnt get my first scan with my daughters until twenty weeks that was five years ago as it was the policy not to give twelve weeks scan unless any bleeding or other problems. Needless to say i walked around in a daze for a week when i found out it was ID twins then they were born 8weeks later. Amazin how quicky 8weeks goes.
I paid to have an early scan 8 weeks second time round as i couldnt stick waiting that extra 4weeks to see if it was just one or two. I went with babybond as i tried to get GP to refer me for one he wouldnt. The early viability scan with babybond is from seven weeks i think and was around hundred and really good. And i was able to go nah nah nah i know its twins by time i went to my twelve week scan. Babybond are really good i went for a 4d scan at 23weeks just for experience and my parents offered, and i mentioned when bookin i had use them before and they knocked some money off.mum to; Two Boys (Non id twins)Two Girls (Id twins)0
