Thanks Sally, will give the number a call tomorrow.
Thanks to all who responded as well, at least I know now I can avoid people trying to get into my house whilst Im out, sure as hell they wouldnt be coming in if I was in lol0 -
If out they have to make good any damage to locks etc.
If in they'd call the police & although only there to keep the peace, not force entry, they would ultimately probably end up arresting you if there was any trouble (as "the reps" had a warrant / were only doing their job etc)
Good luck tomorrow I hope you find them reasonable (but I wouldn't bank on it personally)0 -
I hope things go well with you and Npower, although I will admit not to being their number one fan after leaving them and their final bill being very inaccurate (all sorted now though).
What I have less sympathy for is you trying to suggest you shouldn't pay them anything as a mistake has been made on your name. I am all for squeezing the big energy companies, but as it has been pointed out your suggestions amount to fraud. Admit the problem, pay up and don't wriggle out of the debt you owe them. If they waived bills for everyone in your situation everyone else (including me) would have to pay higher bills.0 -
Take my word for it..if you dont pay the bill or make satisfactory arrangements to pay the debt in stage payments or arrange card meters, they will obtain a warrant and they will either force fit card meters or cut you off...and thats it.
If you obtruct them in their lawful process, they will seek Police assistance.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

I thought the earlier reference to fraud related to an earlier matter involving a 'little white lie/error' the OP made involving an insurance policy.
I'm not sure any fraud has been committted here. Theft possibly, but not fraud as far as I can see "Now to trolling as a concept. .... He could always ask his girlfriend's parents to sub the bill in lieu of missing benefits.0

OP, you should check that the bill uses the right starting meter reading. It is possible that they are charging you for the previous tenant's use and that is why the name is wrong. Never just take the bill at face value. In my experience suppliers often get readings, names, even addresses wrong.0

Dont npower use ID verification from 192.com ? If so and you gave a false name you will be recorded as using alias , it will link you. All they have todo anyway is landregistry check your landlord and ask him.
How many plans you failed, also didnt secus do a visit prior?0 -
The spelling of the name is not just one letter, its a few and not much like my name, not sure how that happened as the estate agents changed them over to my name. Ive never made a payment to Npower before now.
What if I was to call them and say that those people left the property and give them my real name, say that Ive just moved in?
Any chance they would stop the payment meters going in if I called them up and agreed a payment plan with them?
they will want to see your tenancy agreement0 -

Sure why not. Its worth a try. Lots of other people do it. They either print off their own fake new tenancy agreement or get their landlord to collude with them in supporting the lie/fraud. It isnt unknown for females to f%ck their landlords in return for such assistance. Of course they may ask for further proof of your identification which will involved further fraud but hey, whats to lose if for eg your unemployed or unemployable.
The rest of Npowers customers can then pay your debt which will be divi'd up amongst them.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
