I thought if the seller flags an item as unpaid, then it is later marked as paid as a result of a PayPal transaction or the seller marking the item as payment received that it would automatically be reversed so no-one needs to contact eBay.0

Not so. If the buyer pays after you get your listing fees back then the NPS sticks until some one contact ebay to prove payment. I was wondering if this is the seller or buyer who has to proove payment?Lifes a !!!!! and then you marry one:D0

If you relisted the item and the buyer bought from you a second time and paid through the second transaction then there is no problem at all.
However if you allowed the buyer to pay for the item using the first transaction after you were awarded your fees back this could be classed as fee avoidance and in reality you should not allow a buyer to pay for something when ebay have cancelled a transaction on your behalf you should start a new transaction altogehter sepatrate from the first.0 -
I have been in contact with ebay and they have taken the non payment strike away from the buyer. What happened is he did pay via paypal for this item after the deadline for non payment. In fact it was within a few hours. He contacted ebay and said that both parties have to contact ebay. The buyer to prove he has paid via paypal, and the seller to prove funds received. which I did. Then I contacted ebay and they reversed the non payment strike and the the returned fees. So no fee avaiodance. It was quite simple and the girl I spoke to said that a lot of the rules for non payment strikes have been changed as above. So all sorted I ma happy, the customer is happy, and ebay are happy.Lifes a !!!!! and then you marry one:D0

I have had NPB strikes removed manually by Ebay when buyers have later paid (usually with PO which was lost in post with proof). eBay have always reversed the fee. As you quite rightly say, the seller is the one that has to action the removal by contacting bay. eBay then immediately reverse the fee manually. So the issue of fee avoidance would never arise.0
