IVA regarding Ex partners not paying debt

We are paying an IVA with debts run up from 2 past relationships, how can we sure they pay something either via court . It doesnt seem fair that we take ALL the debt and they get away scott free?

Please any advise?

Hiya

well the debts I have are in my name but his debts but my husbands ones were again joint debts but in his name and then a huge joint repossession.

I just dont see how we should pay all of this debt and them just sit back and get away with it

You are stuffed on yours. With regard to your husband, does the creditor know where his ex is? If not a quick call may be good!! She is liable for everything he does not pay.

Sadly if debts are solely in your name you are responsible for them - whether they were taken out for the good of both parties in the relationship or not joint debts you are both jointly responsible for so if the other person decides to 'dissapear' or just not pay them then again you would have to pay them. Unless you can prove that you took the debts out in your name for your partner and it was very much a loan (and you can prove it - ie with paperwork or then starting to make payments to you) then you are stuck, or you decide to take them to court as part of a divorce settlement or something
