I can't see how these are appropriate in the huge majority of cases. Unless you have an additional amount of income that'll be used to clear the debt in one go then presumably you'll be short for next month and then the problems start for real.....

    Straight question, straight answer.

You have enough. It's tight, but it's enough. If you go to any payday loanshark (and that's what they are), you are clean out of your mind.

Why are you "clean out of your mind"?

If used sensibly, due to unforeseen circumstances, loans such as these are a lifeline to those people where mainstream credit is out of the question. Also some people aren't lucky enough to have relatives/friends who are in a position to help out either.

I think people on this forum are far too quick to judge and jump on people when it comes to high interest loans. OK, I'll agree that some people deserve what they get when obviously never intending to pay credit back, but others on here are just trying to get on with their lives, in ways that their credit circumstances will allow.

Having been at the "bottom of the barrel" i know what its like but seriously take a look on ways you can cut costs, is there anything you could car boot - your tat might be somebody elses prize, i saw an ad on tv this week for wonga.com and the APR was 4214%!! I've been there and learnt the hard way - now if i don't have the cash i don't buy it and I go without - it takes a hell of a lot longer to pay it back than it does to spend it and just one mistake can cost you years.

    Good for you.

What does that mean for a £100 loan over 10 days please?
  • Thanks a lot for your help and advice everyone, you've all pretty much made me think what I did originally. Although this loan will help me this month, what happens next time or the time after that? And at the moment i have no job by the end of march. Seems like all i do on my nights off is fill out applications! I will try and find more things to sell but in the meantime, avoid Wonga at all costs! Thank again everyone, much appreciated!!! Emma.
  • Good decision Emma92 :)
When looking at the climb in front of you, don't forget to look back once in a while and see how far you have come:j

    Glad to hear :)

There is a board on here called 'Old Style Moneysaving' which might be useful.

It's basically all about making the most you have, they will be able to suggest ways to feed yourself on very little until you next get paid. Tons of recipes and frugal hints & tips.

I used them at Christmas when I was waiting for a payment but needed money quickly. All went fine and I paid back on the day we agreed. Not heard from them since apart from a couple of emails about competitions, they haven't bothered me to borrow more.

I agree it is a slippery slope if you can't afford to repay them on time, and the fines are hefty.

If you are going to borrow it, then make sure you get yourself on eBay and makesome extra cash to cover the deficit you will have when you repay them next month. Otherwise you will be in the borrowing cycle forever.
