I don't think guys would be flattered with flowers. Why not give him a plant instead?0

There is always something a girl can give a guy.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

I would love black flowers.0

Well done on going with the flowers any real man would love them. I've bought my husband flowers before now.0

I don't think there is anything wrong with flowers- just would have thought there would be something he may prefer. Flowers would be low down on my list for most people actually as they just die.
I'm female and like flowers- but TBH for the money they can cost sometimes, there are numerous other things that I would probably prefer!! I'd rather OH bought me a book I'd like than a bunch of flowers. But- when I do get given flowers i'm very appreciative as I know he has gone to some effort.0 -
The thing was, i don't know him very well so no idea what he likes but the concensus from the guys does seem to be NO TO FLOWERS!Can't stop - addicted to the shindig.0

This question has cropped up before. And the consensus was that actually, most of the men who have received flowers as a gift have been really pleased. Having said that, it is usually something for the boyfriend, husband etc. not someone who isn't that well known.
The men saying no, everyone to their own opinion. But if it is because they think it is too "effeminate", well, who knew that Andy Gray and pals were members of MSE....0 -
It seems to be mostly the girls saying flowers are okay for a guy. I'm a guy: I could live with flowers and even be quite touched by the gesture... but you'd have to know he feels the same and won't feel awkward...and also that he won't see it as a romantic come on if that's not what you intend (cos it is what guys usually intend when they give flowers!).
A bottle of wine (probably a butch, manly robust red!) would be a safer option in my opinion if it's just a thank you.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
I think you were absolutely right. My Dad is a totally ante-diluvian male. Never done any of the stuff that fifty years ago were considered to be women's jobs. Only does (in his view) 'Man' sort of engineering type things. He loves flowers and I would have no qualms about sending them to him.
I think, unfortunately, there are a few men who are a bit insecure about their masculinity who panic a bit about anything that might be perceived as a bit feminine and do the whole 'I'd prefer beer, ho, ho, ho' bit! Sad. I'm sure your friend was delighted to have something that would brighten his home for a few days.0 -
We have discussed this before and my husband would be mortified if someone bought him flowers.
He just thinks it's not a ' man ' thing and would def prefer to be bought spirits, beer etc.0
