Flowers for a guy?

Options
Hi, not sure if this is the best place to post but wondering if anyone can help.
I've been looking around for flowers that would be suitable for a man, to say thanks to someone who has helped me, but not found anything.
I had in mind something quite modern and maybe dark, not girlie looking, or I did think maybe a fruit hamper.
I'd be very grateful if anyone has any ideas or has found anything like this, or if any guys can think of anything they'd prefer if they think flowers are lame.

Thanks for any suggestions you can give.

  • Flowers are lame

Posh cider would be more impressive
  • It really depends on the guy. If you know he would like flowers then get them, otherwise I'd advise not to. Flowers or chocs are easy presents for guys to give girls but are much more tricky for girls to give guys. I wouldn't give fruit either because chances are he would think "Does she think I'm ill?" Oh, and I'm assuming you are female because if you were a bloke, you'd just take him down the pub and buy him a couple of drinks :p:beer::p
I know it is unfair, but us guys have it a lot easier when it comes to giving "symbolic" presents to girls. One alternative to flowers I have used - to a girl with hay fever (it pays to know your target ;)) - was a bundle of helium balloons and a bottle of fizz, specially delivered. Yes: they are silly, but that is partly the point. You can say "Thank you" in a fun way and he can play "speak like an alien" when he comes home from the pub with his mates (Just kidding for the last bit... I think.:rotfl:)

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.
  • How about a bonsai tree?

If it has to be flowers I would stick to unusual strong shapes, exotics rather than girly style flowers, or maybe a bamboo or garden architectural shaped plant.

Debenhams have some nice gifts in for men, They have some wooden carry boxes with bottles inside(one on the internet site is for Gamers cider but I have seen them in my local store with beers and larger )
If you buy it soon you can get the 20% off with the code or voucher, so would be £8 for the gamers one on the debenhams site

If you do want to go for flowers I would go for tropical as they are not as fluffy and even though they are more expensive you can get away with a few flowers rather than a big bunch , ask a local florist to see if they can get some or stock them normally ( probably best if your buying flowers to wait till the end of feb as the prices will stay high right through feb because of valentines day) Ordering from one of the sites such as interflora/teleflorist you will definitely pay over the odds

Get him a box of beers.
Always goes down well. He'll look like he's well stocked up when his mates come round.
  • Thanks for all your helpful suggestions. Went with flowers in the end - he can always give them to his wife, lol.
