Opening PDF files

I have both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Reader 9 installed on my PC (running Windows 7).
Whenever I try to open a PDF file (such as an application form or job details) my PC always opens it in Photoshop rather than Reader 9, and I would like to be able to change this but don't know where to do this.

I did look for this, but only have the option to open in a new window, not with a specific programme.
I had the same programmes installed on my old computer and PDF programmes used to automatically open in Acrobat, think there must be some kind of priority system, but don't know as I've only been using Windows 7 for a few months.0 -
You could try running the acrobat reader and see if it asks if it should be the default.0

Don't do this from your web browser. Download the PDF file onto your desktop and then use the actual PDF file itself to do as Cassandra said. Do not use the weblink to do it.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
On my Win OS (Not Win 7) I do the following maybe you could try it too
double Click on my computer to open it up
At the top click "view"
Drop down menu click "folder options"
top menu click "file types"
Select the one called Adode type PDF
click edit and assign it a new start up program, you have to browse to the folder of your desired program and need to know which file is the exe file that starts that program.
save your stuff
should be fixed.0 -
My way would be to install Adobe Reader X and hopefully the install will sort out the file association. At the same time you get a pdf reader which uses a sandbox to protect your computer against nasty code that can be embedded in pdf files (which Adobe are to blame for anyway as they allowed it when they developed the format).0

-> Control Panel -> Default Programs -> Associate a file type or protocol
Scroll down untill you get to the .pdf entry and then click the "Change Program..." button and set the default to Adobe Reader“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0
