Carers allowance

Hello, can anyone advise please have been receiving carers allowance for the past 5 or so year's for caring for my elderly mother, who lives with me permanently.
I only work I day a week on a Sunday when OH is at home to look out for my mum, and I took this job on for a bit of (time out for me) being a full time carer and also to help with income for the home.

Unfortunately my mother need's me more now, and I am going to have to give up this little job up now, I was wondering if there is any thing else I can claim to help with my loss of income, now that I am unable to go to work because of being here for her, I am married and my husband works full time earning around £25000 pa, we have a mortgage and all other household bills to pay, our son still lives at home and he pays us a £100 per month keep, any advise would be appreciated thanks.

  • sorry absolutely nothing you can claim except the CA you get already, your household income is far too high for means tested benefits and to be honest, with your CA, your husbands pay and your sons board plus i assume your mum chips in as well i cant see why you would need/expect the state to hand over any cash

You would not be able to claim anything from the government for loss of earnings for one day
and to be honest rightly so.

Presumably your mother gets pension, does she pay you board also.

No idea of your childs earnings but he needs to be paying you more than double what he is if he is on a normal working wage.

Is your oh not at home now on a Sunday to look out for her. Get your child to help out a bit on a Sunday.
You seem to be taking the world on your shoulders,
For your own sanity I would do my best to hang on to your little job.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
