£400 per month occ pension and JSA

Are there any circumstances where someone receiving £400 per month from a Civil Service pension can still sign on and receive cont based JSA?

The amount will be reduced but you should still receive about £23 a week.

I made a mistake I should have written £800, I presume with that amount no JSA would be paid.
  • Yes, £800 would erase your entitlement for money but its still worth signing on to keep your national insurance conts up to date.
  • In the same sort of vein...........my husband is my full time carer and gets Cares Allowance for looking after me full time and is thinking about taking his personal pension which would be £180 a week.

Now i know that Housing benefit and Council Tax and Income Support will be stopped but will he still be able to claim Carers Allowance?

You will not be entitled to any JSA award, but like 2009timeforchange said you will get contributions paid if you sign on.

Yes he will, if he's not claiming any other benefits.

Contribution based JSA isn't means tested.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

But if you get a large occupational pension you can't get contribution based JSA .

No it isn't but as other posters have said, if you have an occ pen over £50 per week, JSA cont will be reduced by the amount of occp over that
