When do I inform Tax credit office...

Hi guys a little info would be grand, my daughter turned 16 in nov 2010 she will leave school in june 2011 to go on in further education either lower 6th or tech my question is when do i inform the tax credit office and child benefit or will they get in touch with me....
Any info will be greatly appreciated..thanks in advance.

You will be paid tax credits for your daughter right up to 31st August, then payments will go down, (this will be on your next award notice after April) you then inform them after this date if your daughter is going onto 6th form, they will then amend payments. If for some reason your daughter leaves school to start a job, then you have to inform them of this or you may have an overpayment for next year. Think it's the same for each family with a child who is 16. Child benefit will send a letter, and you have to inform them of whether your daughter will be going onto 6th form.0
