I have done 2 PT's and when I read the subsequent analysis, one report was about 90% right - the other was way off the mark.
Not my summary - but from Mrs.P
I just wonder how many very capable and experienced applicants have fallen through the net because of these tests.0 -

Probably a similar number to those that have fallen through the net because, despite having perfect skills and experience for the job, they are simply not very good at being interviewed - which is a completely different skill in itself.
Bottom line is, there is no fail-safe way of recruiting.0 -

And when you get 80 people you'd very unlucky to get say 6 poor people to the interview stage etc.The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Were the test sheets by a company called SHL?
You may not think that they have any relevance to the role but in fact they very much do for any role. They are there to evaluate how quickly you can read/problem solve & time keep among other things..
And really you are wasting your time trying to invoice them - You failed a section of the assessment day and they sent you home.. All perfect and above board."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

Like or not, its entirely up to the employer how they chose to siphon the candidates out.0 -
I know precisely which "charity" you're talking about, and believe me when I say you probably had a lucky escape.0

Every assessment day I have ever attended! If employers want to attract candidates from all over the country they usually pay expenses. Only local recruitment of minimum wage type jobs doesn't usually pay expenses.
Restricting potential applicants to the local area plus the unemployed and desperate is not a good business strategy!0 -
I thought these kind of interviews are very classic. I went through the same applying 15 years ago to become a air stewardess (or is it intendant now!!) with BA. You went through a assessment test, if you passed you went on the group exercise and if you were lucky to have manage to show assertiveness but fairness, you got to go to the interview. They had the luxury to do because they received so many candidates. I assume it was a similar situation with you.
Saying that, BA did pay all expenses (involving a trip to Heathrow from Gatwick). I thought this was standard practice too.0 -
My sister has an interview with Historic Scotland next week. She showed me the letter that said: 'we do not pay interview expenses.'
Who expects interview expenses? Might remember that one when I have to go to Aberdeen University for my PhD interview.0 -
Who expects interview expenses? Well, people who are already in good jobs and who might not apply if they have to fork out £500 on the off chance that the vacancy on offer is better than the job they already have. These are likely to be better candidates than those out of work. Not paying expenses is a very silly false economy. If Historic Scotland are not paying expenses, they may be looking to attract only local applicants.0
