Invoicing a charity for your travelling time????
Even just thinking about that shows to me that you probably werent the right person for the job!!!
Yes it is frustrating and gutting when you spend money on an interview, not to get the job. Its a risk you take when you agree to attending the interview so far away.
If you're on JSA, you could be entitled to claim back travelling expenses and mileage from them. I think to ask the charity for the money is a crass0 -

If they can afford this rather expensive assessment day - then yes!If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Would it have been any better to sit through a further period of interview / one to one and then be told "Well, you gave a cracking interview, but unfortunately the pyschometric testing that you did several hours ago showed that you're not really a good fit with our organistation"? You'd have 'wasted' a whole day of your time rather than a half day.
The fact is, they offered you a place on a selection day, you chose to accept the place and all it entailed (travel / testing / observation exercises etc), and you were unsuccessful. You can't really blame them for that, any more than they can blame you for the fact that you 'wasted' their time by not being the right person for the job. Starting off with a long list of candidates and whittling it down to one final successful one is what the selection process is about, it's not pleasant for those that fall along the wayside, but unfortunately that's the way it is.0 -
Thank you for the comments so far, some have been most encouraging.
On a slight side note, I do currently work on contracts for them via another organisation and I am privy to data that if you saw the waste of finances on, it would make you weep.
If nothing else it has showed me a side that i have heard exsisted, but didnt fully appreciate until having been on the recieving end of. Yes, I will write it off to experience, however I will certainly not just sit back and get walked over just because of who they are.0 -

Seems to me they haven't understood psychometric assessments if they think candidates should be looking at improving.0 -

OP you needed to have asked if travelling expenses were being paid prior to interview.Saving money right, left and centre0 -
I've done something similar with Year 7's when I used to teach science. And this is being used as part of an interview??? Words fail me.

I think you'll find it is used not to see if you can build a bridge but to see who are leaders and who are followers etcThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

psychometric tests are for the most part complete rubbish, it's interviewing by numbers for people who don't have the basic understanding of how to analyse the results. May as well use horoscopes.Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.0
