  • Make sure the mute box in the mixer isn't ticked.

Check Sound, Speech, Audio Devices in control panel and select Sounds an Audio devices and check what is selected for playback.

The sound on my PC was not working today, realised after an hour of head scratching and doing everything I could think of that my Grandson had unplugged the USB connection for my speakers to plug his 'memory stick' in last night when doing some research... I will slap him soundly next time I see him:rotfl:

  • Are they plugged in, turned on, volume up, on mute.

Are they ok in Device Manager, have you tried the troubleshooter.
  • I've tried all the obvious stuff (I think). I've tried headphiones too....a little cracking but no sound
  • Have you by any chance added a USB handset? That often changes the sound system so that the sound only comes out of the handset or else it would be like being on speaker phone.
  • Nope....

I've also got a menu on boot up where I have to press F1 (Is it a bios menu)?

  • yes I have...how do you do that?

Can I roll back more than once?....I mean roll back once and then a bit further
  • Am having the same problems but think my speakers may be broken. If i play music through the pc, turn my speakrs on full balst and put my ear up to the speaker while holding my hand over my other ear i can JUST faintly hear the music. Could it be that your speakers are broken?
