Barclays vs Halifax - which is best?

Hiya,
I am currently a customer with Barclays and have their Additions account, costing me £15 a month and which gives me mobile phone insurance, breakdown cover etc. When I went into the Halifax yesterday to speak to them about my credit card with them, they told me that I was automatically guaranteed acceptance on their bank account with an overdraft and that i could have their reward plus which would give me mobile phone insurance and breakdown cover for £12 a month. I looked up the rewards on both and notice that with Barclays its homestart included in the breakdown but with Halifax its away from home only, but apart from that does anyone have any preferences or complaints about either bank? Torn between what to do!
Many thanks
Sarah

It's also worth noting that if you fund the Ultimate Reward Current Account with £1000 or more in calendar month you get £5 Reward, which effectively reduces the cost of the account to £7.50 per month.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0

Hi Sarah,
The Ultimate Rewards Packaged Account is £12.50/month but if you pay in £1000/month you get £5 rewards, making the account £7.50/month so you may want to consider that.
Have been with both Halifax and Barclays and both were fine for me. Halifax UK call centre gave it a slight edge.0 -
Don't know if you bank online but I find Barclay's online much better than Halifax (would be a big factor for me).0

I have current accounts with both (Barclays for business, but not a business account, and halifax for personal).
Barclays is my favourite- they're much more friendly and have MUCH better security. I prefer their online banking over Halifax as Halifax's online security is not up to much, and I don't like them on the phone - very unfriendly. Their unauthorised o/d charges are exorbitant too.
I'd stick with Barclays if I were you.0
