£450 / 5 = 90 weeks. which is 7 1/2 years so the debt could not of been paid off yet.

I think you should get some maths lessons.....there are 52 weeks in a year so it would have taken us 90 weeks, which equates to roughly 18 months

I wouldn`t be surprised if it was a mistake, i`ve heard of others who were being chased by DCs for amounts owing that were purely fictional myself included.

I our case we had moved home and had the meters read - just to be on the safe side i took a photo of both the meters when we did this which was time and date stamped. We also had a refund as we were in credit when we moved.

Two years later we had a letter from a debt collector, there was never any contact from Powergen at all. It did take some sorting out but we won in the end. Causing people sleepless nights by doing this should be an offence IMHO as although you know that you are in the right it can be like banging your head against a brick wall.

Our old house had the supply capped off and sealed when we moved out as it was due to be demolished - according to the powers that be it was still clocking up usage even though it wasn`t there *rolls eyes*

OP i wish you luck with getting this sorted out quickly, easy for me to say but try not to let it worry you too much.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Hi caris,

I am sorry that you didn't receive the call back on Friday afternoon.

Has anyone called you back regarding this, it sounds like an agent has opened a complaint on your account so they should be dealing with this for you.

I can try and chase this up for you, if you provide your details to my email address.

Thank you for your reply. Due to still not receiving a call back, we have now put in a formal complaint ourselves in writing sent via email.

Thank you for your informative reply.

We definately do NOT owe any money to Powergen (E-ON), as we had a prepayment metre installed and they collected the debt on the metre. There was a statement come from a reading on the metre (shortly after installation) and instead of the debt going down it was going up!!! My OH phoned them to querry this and it turned out that they had incorrectly set the metre:mad: They gave us £50 credit on the metre for the mistake.

Upon leaving Powergen we went to a different supplier for a while, and then in Dec 09 we went to BG, my OH has contacted them and they have confirmed that we had NO OUTSTANDING MONIES OWING to anyone.

So as far as we are aware we have no debt with anybody.

Hi, do not respond to this debt collection agency.

Thanks for this. The debt company this refers to is a different company that has sent us a letter. Our letter is from Pastdue Credit Solutions.

Pastdue Credit Solutions! Don't even go there - these people are useless!

Somehow E-on provided my details to them at my parents address - (don't know where they got these from) in my maiden name (I have been married 5 years) and they are sending letters addressed to Ms XXX (my maiden name) so my elderly mother is opening them and gettting really stressed out about it all.

As soon as the first one arrived I contacted them via phone, email and recoded delivery letter and explained why they were in the wrong chasing me and sent all relevant paperwork to them about the case and my new contact details as don't want my mother being upset further but today I get a call from her to say there is another threatening legal action - she is still waiting for the field representative threatened last time to show up at her door.

I have been dealing with a man at E-on but not getting too far so have put a formal complaint to them and am waiting for a response. I was advised on another thread that if you are in dispute with an organisation about a bill they cannot pass it to a debt recovery agency so will be putting that to him on the phone tomorrow when he is back in work.

I have seen this somewhere else as well, however, we were not in dispute with them, because as far as we were concerned our bill debt has been paid.

Actually unless E-on agrees that you’ve cleared the debt long since, you’re in dispute with them because they’d then be saying you do owe them some money and you’d be saying you don’t (because it has been paid off). :)
