sony MP3 Problems

Hello all. I have just bought a sony 4gb mp3 player to download audio books from my local library. when i try to sync the books to the player error message 0xC00D2772 comes up saying "failed to obtain device certificate" i have looked at the sony product support and the microsoft support website, but these dont seem to help much. the books will sync to my wifes Ipod shuffle - not a lot of use though as it wont play sequentially and gets rather confusing . i have tried using different usb ports on my lap-top, nothing seems to help.
