We are looking to sell our two cars and buy one newish car to share.
We have seen a one year old C3 which is out of town and we are going to look on Saturday.
It looks good but we don't know where we stand.
We will take it to our regular mechanic after purchase just for him to give it the once over and make sure everything is in order.
My question is..............if there was anything major at fault...do we have the right to a refund?
Pessimistic outlook I know but when you are spending quite a bit of money you want to make sure everything goes well.

Under the SOGA (Sales of goods act) a used car purchased from a trader, should be fault free for the first 6 months of ownership. Any fault (ex wear & tear) within that time would be assumed to be present when purchased. Such faults are the rsponsibility of the seller and he is allowed the opportunity to inspect and rectify before the buyer can persue matters. Rejection/refunds can be made under some circumstances within a reasonable time although 'reasonable time' is not defined. Any warranty (free or otherwise) offered with a used car does not replace the above so a warranty 6 months or less is a waste of paper.
Hope this helps.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

Def recommend getting him to check it before purchase!
A non-mechanically minded friend was buying a BMW recently, and got a mutual mech. friend to check 3 out before he found a good one. All 3 seemed fine to my friend - but had varying amounts of work needed. He's very glad he waited for a good one.0
