Sperm Donors?

Hi all. Are there any people who donate their sperm on here and if so if they get paid to do so? I've seen one in Manchester which states they don't pay a fee, but cover for loss of earnings and expenses. So would loss of earnings constitute recompence for taking time off work?

The only person I knew who did this got a flat rate of expenses (basically a fee by another name), and no, he couldn't charge them for the cost of missing a day of work.

He stopped doing it when the law changed saying that children born of donated sperm had the legal right to know who the donor was, and try to trace the biological father if they chose to.

Others don't mind - be sure you find out the reality of the situation. It's not just you and the plastic cup to think about!

This is the main reason for the drop in people willing to donate. A couple I know are having to use American sperm because of the shortage of British sperm.
  • You would be mad to do this. In some countries the law has been changed so that the sperm donor is legally responsible for the financial upkeep of all the resulting children and this law has been applied retrospectively. Could easily happen in UK, the govt will do anything to reduce benefits bills.

It used to be the case that student doctors would regularly donate sperm to top up their beer funds, I did it a few times, but the the change in the law has changed all that.
