Extra protection using CC??

I booked 2 tickets to Australia using my credit card. I booked with a ticket agent that has all the listed credentials and also read that in the case of a business going bust, if you book using your credit card then they are joinly liable for your costs. But what happens if the balance has been cleared? (I've since been able to borrow the money from my parents, who found out I was going to get a cheap loan to pay off the credit card) Are you only insured if you have credit still owing on the card or do you still have that extra protection even if the balance has been cleared? I have to make a payment before Monday and I don't know whether to pay it all off or leave a small amout outstanding. I can't seem to find anything on the card providers website that gives any information on this type of thing. Hoping someone out there knows please?? Thanks in advance - Jo

You still have section 75 protection after the balance is cleared. Sometimes there is an issue with buying from 3rd parties like travel agents - have a look here for info http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchasesA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
