Garage Charges
Hi
My car door has been leaking, i took my car to an independent garage who stripped the door and identified that there was a leak but it was something they could not repair and recommended i went to the dealership. However they still want me to pay for the work carried out.
Is this correct? can they charge me for work that they carried out to investigate a problem that they could not repair?
Let me know as they're looking for a cheque tomorrow.
Cheers

You asked them to look. They looked. They now want to charge you for the time it took for them to check for you. Seems fair enough??? Do you go in to Tesco's for your weekly shop, but demand that you get your weekly shop for free as they didn't have the frozen peas you wanted? Just because they couldn't complete the job, doesn't mean you dont pay them for their time...:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. What makes you think they should'nt? Simple answer is yes, they can charge you, epecially if they had to strip the door. However, you havn't mentioned how much they are charging you. I would of thought 30 mins labour would cover it so around £35 or so?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. Removal of door card + brief investigation + any panel clips that broke in the process (often unavoidable).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
