Honeymoon in April/May

Our wedding is on 21st April 2012 and I'm just trying to get an idea of where to think about for our honeymoon. I always wanted to go to Tanzania for a safari and on to Zanzibar, but it seems that April/May is the wet season frown.gif Typical.

Does anyone have any ideas of somewhere (preferably not in Europe) that's suitably honeymoony and great weather that time of year?

Thanks x

    Same problem here...

    Trailfinders recommend:
    Bangkok & Koh Samui
    South Africa & Mauritius
    The Galapagos Islands

But i can't make my mind up what i want to do... :-)

we're doing 3 weeks in california, starting in san francisco, driving down the coast and stopping along the way then heading to LA for a few nights, doing a day/night in disney, a few days in San Diego and then flighing to Las Vegas for a few nights before we head home.

just finalised the car hire today! we've booked some of the hotels and the main flights in and out of america with trailfinders (who were brilliant) and we booked some of the other hotels plus the internal flight from San Diego to Las Vegas by ourselves cause we got better prices.

so glad the bulk of it is done, now all we have to do is figure out what tickets we need to prebook before heading out for certain things we want to do.

Wet season isnt necessarily a bad thing. Wet season means green pastures and water, which attract animals, and i'd assume if you wanted to go on safari then it would be to see the animals.

Granted, not ideal if you want to sunbathe though!

I personally love Thailand as an all year round destination. It has rainy seasons, but if its rainy on one side of the country then it'll be dry on the other. Temperatures remain a steady 30C ish all year round.

If you wanted to go to Tanzania specifically for the safari/animals then perhaps you might consider Borneo? Ive jsut got back from there and it was amazing. Plenty of wildlife. Dry season is around April time, we were there in wet season and it was still amazing. The only place you'll find orang utans in the wild still. They have some amazing beaches with great diving/snorkling and the people are really friendly.

Bahamas is around £6-8 for a pint, more for a cocktail. Beautiful islands though.

Just be aware that Hurricane season in the carribbean area is roughly from the start of June til the end of November.

It may be hurricane season there at that time of year but it doesn't mean they will get one...its a bit like travelling to to uk in winter and saying its snow season...you dont always get it..!
There was a hurricane in Barbados recently...during the last season and it did have an affect on the island with rain etc but I believe its the first one that they have had for over 30 years!
I have travelled to the caribbean lots of times over the past 15 years mainly either july or christmas..so within hurricane season...We have never experienced a hurricane but have had tropical storms in Antigua and St Lucia...mainly I would describe them as torrential downpours of rain that last for a few hours and pass...you can still go about and the rain isnt cold like the rain here...usually afterwards its sunny again...during rainy season there is more rain but again it tends to be in very short sharp bursts...the temp remains hot so really its not enough to spoil a holiday...I wouldn't let the description of it being "hurricane season " put you off travelling!

How about Cuba? A few days in Havana followed by a few days at a beach resort.
