The best gadget out there is and for the forseeable future will be the iphone.
it made me laugh last year when motorola made a statement saying they had built an i-phone rival, unfortunately apple had launched a Iphone v2, then a 3GS and the Iphone 4 was imminent, after there original iphone
Really?
The best gadget for what?
Android is currently the best selling smartphone OS.
(apple are third)

Best selling and best user experience are two different measurements. Most tech blogs and magazines like T3 rate the iPhone as the best smartphone and its user experience is second to none. I do however admire Android from on a technical and different level.0 -

mm.. let me think two variants of iphone currently on sale (3gs, 4)
versus how many for android and rivals..
An android also costs alot less £80-£350 versus £475
all those doubters get an iphone, i've not had a phone that the internet pages works so well. but if only they would accept flash
i work in the industry i have used blackberry, htc, lg, samsung, nokia, apple, the works..0 -
My wife did a change management conference once, and met someone from Nokia's L&D department. For a megacorp they have a very nourishing attitude to staff development, preferring to change by determining what people are doing well and building on that, rather than rely on the constant assault of morale crushing re-structures, layoffs and outsourcing most western companies opt for.
Unfortunately a pedigree of slow, buggy smartphones with horrible user interfaces and so so build quality will only get you so far in life.
Nokia did well in the past because there wasnt an alternative, this is the era of oppen source Android now, and their new flagship Symbian touchscreen looks absolutely dire. I had a go on one in a Three store the other day, dull low res screen, hopelessly unintuitive tree based, menu, and meagre memory and processing power.
I cant imagine who could be bothered to code apps on Symbian any more when they're scrapping it by their own volition.

I have a blackberry for work, and an iphone 4 for personal use.
The iphone is brilliant for music, web surfing and amazing with apps. It's now my satnav, product locator, hotel booking device, travel info provider, etc.... Not as good as my old Nokia for phone calls nor as good as the blackberry for emails though. Wouldn't want to use an iphone for work for those reasons.
If I only needed a phone to make phone calls, I'd buy a Nokia. They're great at it..... But thats not what we all use phones for these days, and to me that's something Nokia were slow to grasp. The phone part has become secondary for many users.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I am not a doubter.
The iphone just doesn't do it for me, my Desire is much more suited to my needs.
The iphone is a lovely thing mind you but doesn't have the functionality and flexibility I require.0 -

Welcome back!
Thanks, I mostly just go to the mobile phone board now.
I've realised I enjoy discussing phones much more than house prices so I dont come here much anymore.0 -

Oh dear. Describes their market position as being a burning platform.
Kind of highlights also how quickly markets can change. Nokia seemed to be viewed as unassailable 3 years ago.
Fascinating to see is perspective.:eek:0
