Not sure whether the house has a garden but if it does, worth asking or checking for the following ( and I appreciate some of it may be of no importance to you both):
How much sun does the garden get and at what time? ( a perpetually shady garden isn't everybody's cup of tea and/or tricky for wannabe gardeners)
are there any high trees? How much and how dense a shade do they cast? Bear in mind that this is a tricky time of year to evaluate this properly as trees aren't in leaf
Are there any hedges surrounding the property? Who is responsible for their upkeep - if they are high this can be astoundingly expensive! - and who owns them?
Fence? Who owns that?
ask how many dogs live in the immediate neighbourhood and ask how noisy they are. You are unlikely to get a truthful answer but it's worth watching the reaction . I have dogs of my own ( as do many of my neighbours) and yet it is a blissfully quiet neighbourhood. But a constantly yappy dog can REALLY ruin your enjoyment of house and garden.
if applicable to your intended property, stand in the garden and listen to road noise. Does the noise bother you? How much through-traffic does the street get?0 -
Ooh thanks Harrup, not much of a gardener myself but I know it's important for reselling, and we will have two children (one is in utero!) so would be nice to be able to use it.
It is north facing, that's bad isn't it?Anna :beer:0
