British Gas free insulation offer.
Just got the email talking about free insulation for dual fuel customers. Jumped at that chance. I live in a 30's terraced house, with a loft conversion done sometime in the last 20/30 years. That extension isn't well, if at all insulated. So this seemed perfect, just a small part of the house needs doing, and it would make a big difference.
So I rang them, and after having to explain 3 times what the property was like, and what needed doing, was told I couldn't get it. For several very strange, and contradictory reasons.
The first thing to bare in mind is that they say that the offer is to increase the energy efficiency of houses, so...
1- I wanted less than 2/3 of the property done, so they couldn't do it.
2- Its a loft conversion
3- It isn't brick.
How any of this makes sense I have no idea. Surely if the aim is to increase the energy efficiency of a house, insulating the small, but exposed area of it which hasn't already been so, would massively increase the efficiency of the house. Also its such a small area, it would be relatively cheap!

Also, laughably, they won't do it if your existing loft insulation is more than 60mm thick.
Laughable conditions for BG free insulation offer
I mean, come on, who has less than 60mm of loft insulation. I don't think you could ever buy loft lagging so thin in the first place could you? A cynical, and expensive, marketing campaign designed to actually sell their existing dual fuel customers the insulation!0
