warning for anyone 3-4 months pregnant and getting childcare vouchers

I'm 6 months pregnant and just discovered that the calculation for my maternity pay is made on the months of Oct - Dec 2010. As I was getting childcare vouchers during those months, the sum HMRC uses to calculate the first part (6 weeks at 90% of your gross pay) is MINUS the childcare vouchers!
I will lose about £350 because of this.

If you employer offers more weeks at 90% then you could lose a lot more...

(Apparently there may be a requirement for your employer to carry on paying your childcare vouchers while you are on maternity leave in which case it may be worth staying on the scheme - but please do check if it is worth you staying in the scheme)

Keep on the vouchers, because your employer *has* to pay for your vouchers while you're on SMP.

but dont they then deduct the vouchers from your mat pay? So rather then for a month I get say £400 SMP I would get £157 plus £243 in vouchers?
