Child DLA advice?

My son had a serious accident 4 years ago and was awarded dla so i could care for him. Over the years he has improved hugely much to the doctors amazement, but he suffers quite badly with co-ordination, memory, behaviour and is on medication and sees a neuro pschologist, he is 11 but acts very much like a 5/6 yr old and cannot do a lot for himself, and tends to cry a lot and is also receiving a statement through school.
Anyhow i had to renew his claim this yr and they told me they received the form on the 11th Jan and his claim ran out on the 1st Feb. I have not yet had a letter to say if it has been renewed or not, but i did receive a payment yesterday that worked out as 1 weeks payment.
I have tried to call them but it is always busy.
What im thinking is, if they got my form on the 11th, and they pay every 4 weeks, and they last paid for my son on the 1st, is this why they have paid 1 weeks payment (11th jan - 8th feb = 4 weeks, minus 4 weeks payment on the 1st feb = 1 weeks payment owing so hence the 1 week payment) so does this make any sense and would you think this means they have renewed the claim? Im just really worried and confused because if i cant be here to care for him, i don't know how either of us will cope. Thanks x

I would have thought the same until the paid money after the claim had ended and i wasn't owed any? That's the bit i dont understand?
