Just had a text from Belmont Thornton thanking me for applying to reclaim PPI fees and saying my claim pack should arrive in the next few days. I haven't contacted them to make any claim, is this just a ploy to get me to contact them so they can then try and get me to make a claim?

They are on our blacklist of dodgy claims companies given the state of some of the complaints received from them (not against me personally but the compliance company we use). There have been significant numbers of complaints generated by them where the person hasnt got the product they are complaining about and the letter they send is just a standard template letter (like you get from the internet) with a load of reasons given that are easily rejected and make the complaint less likely to succeed.
I suspect in your case, it is a spam style text where they hope you reply and they get a chance to talk you into signing up with them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. Thanks, thought that might be the case.0

Have received a letter from them as well now. No idea how they've got my details.0

Expect firms like this to get ever more underhand in their tactics as they try to stem the tide of their little gravy train coming to a halt.0

Urrgh. Had another text from them asking if I've received the claim pack, and an email as well now! I've never even paid for PPI and wouldn't have given them my details.0

Just had another letter from them, is there anything I can do to stop the mailings? I don't particularly want to phone them. I know I could just bin the letters but I haven't given them my details and don't want to receive anything from them. Is there anything I can do to make them remove my details from their records?0
